Terms of Service
By downloading, installing, or using DriveVault, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the application.
1 Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service govern your use of DriveVault, developed and maintained by the DriveVault team. By accessing or using DriveVault, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms.
2 Description of Service
DriveVault is a drive cataloging application for macOS that allows you to:
- Create offline catalogs of external drives through read-only scanning
- Generate visual previews and extract metadata from your files
- Search across all cataloged drives - even when disconnected
- Organize drives into projects with custom icons, tags, notes, and ratings
- Compare drives and generate library reports
- Export and import drive catalogs for sharing or backup
- Optionally create folder structures at user-selected locations
⚠️ Not a Backup Service
DriveVault creates catalogs for offline reference only. It does not copy, sync, or back up your files. You are solely responsible for maintaining proper backups of your data.
3 How DriveVault Works
DriveVault operates using read-only scanning within the macOS sandbox. The app reads your files to generate previews and extract metadata, but it never modifies or deletes your original files.
Optional write operations are strictly limited to user-authorized actions, such as creating folder structures at locations you explicitly choose. These operations never overwrite existing files.
4 Your Responsibilities
When using DriveVault, you agree to:
- Maintain regular backups of your important data
- Ensure your drives are in good working condition before scanning
- Use the app in accordance with these Terms and all applicable laws
- Not rely on DriveVault as your sole record of what files exist on a drive
5 Prohibited Uses
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or redistribute the application
- Use DriveVault for any illegal purpose
- Attempt to circumvent any security measures or licensing restrictions
- Use the app in any way that violates the rights of others
6 Purchases and Pricing
DriveVault is available as a free download with your first drive (up to 4TB) free forever. Additional drive capacity is available as one-time purchases through the Mac App Store - there are no subscriptions.
All payments are processed by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment details. You can manage your purchases in your App Store account settings.
Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their policies. Generally, once a purchase has been made and the features unlocked, refunds may not be available.
7 Privacy
DriveVault works entirely offline. The app does not connect to the internet, collect analytics, or transmit any of your data. All drive catalogs, previews, and metadata remain on your Mac.
For full details on how we handle information (including website signups), see our Privacy Policy.
8 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, DriveVault is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to data loss or hardware failure.
Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of DriveVault shall not exceed the amount you paid for the software, if any.
9 Disclaimer of Warranties
DriveVault is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
10 Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the DriveVault team from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the application or violation of these Terms.
11 Updates
We may release updates to DriveVault that add features, fix bugs, or modify functionality. Updates are delivered through the Mac App Store. Continued use of DriveVault after an update constitutes acceptance of any changes.
12 Termination
These Terms remain in effect for as long as you use DriveVault. You may terminate at any time by deleting the application. We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to DriveVault for violations of these Terms.
13 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles.
14 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes are effective upon posting to this page. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
