Terms of Service
By downloading, installing, or using DriveVault, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the application.
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service govern your use of DriveVault provided by the DriveVault development team. By accessing or using DriveVault, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms.
2. Description of Service
DriveVault is a drive scanning and cataloging application for macOS that:
- Creates offline catalogs of external drives through read-only scanning.
- Optionally creates folder structures at user-selected locations with explicit permission.
- Generates file previews and metadata for organizational purposes.
- Allows export and import of drive catalogs.
- Provides file organization, search, reporting, and comparison tools.
Important Clarification – Not a Backup Service
DriveVault is not a backup application. It does not create copies of your files, and catalogs are provided for offline reference only. You are solely responsible for maintaining proper backups of your data.
3. Critical Liability Disclaimer
DriveVault operates using read-only scanning and macOS sandboxing. Optional write operations are strictly limited to user-authorized folder creation and never modify or overwrite existing files.
4. User Responsibilities
- Maintain regular backups of important data.
- Ensure drives are in good working condition.
- Use the app in accordance with these Terms.
- Comply with all applicable laws.
5. Prohibited Uses
- Reverse engineering or redistributing the application.
- Using DriveVault for illegal purposes.
- Circumventing security measures.
- Violating others’ privacy rights.
6. Privacy
DriveVault processes all data locally on your Mac and does not collect analytics, tracking, or telemetry. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, DriveVault is provided “as is” and we shall not be liable for any damages, data loss, or hardware failure. Total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the software, if any.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The software is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the DriveVault development team from any claims arising from your use of the application.
10. Software Updates
We may provide updates that modify features or requirements. Continued use constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.
11. Termination
These Terms remain in effect until terminated by discontinuing use or deleting the application.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of our primary place of business.
13. Subscriptions and Billing
Subscriptions are billed and managed through the Apple App Store. Refunds are handled directly by Apple.
14. Severability
If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

We may update these Terms at any time. Changes are effective upon posting.
16. Force Majeure
