At DriveVault, your privacy is fundamental to how we build our product. DriveVault is designed to work entirely offline - your files stay on your device, and we never see your data.
📱 The App
🔒 100% Offline
DriveVault works completely offline. The app does not connect to the internet, does not transmit any data, and does not send analytics or telemetry. Your drive catalogs, file metadata, previews, tags, notes, and ratings all remain on your Mac. We cannot see or access any of your data.
When you scan a drive, all processing happens locally on your device. DriveVault reads your files to generate previews and extract metadata, but this information never leaves your computer.
✉️ Email & Communications
We may collect your email address in the following circumstances:
- Website signup: If you enter your email on www.drivevault.io, you consent to receiving product updates, tips, and occasional announcements from DriveVault.
- Beta waitlist: If you previously signed up for our beta waitlist, your email was added to our mailing list to notify you about product updates and launch information.
- Support requests: If you contact us for support, we retain your email to respond to your request.
You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in any email, or by contacting us directly.
💳 Purchases & Billing
All purchases are processed through the Mac App Store by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment details. Apple may provide us with non-personal transaction information (such as purchase receipts) to unlock features on your device.
You can manage your purchases in your App Store account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their policies.
🤝 Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We use limited third-party services only where necessary:
- Formspree: For processing email signup forms on our website.
- Apple: For in-app purchases and payment processing.
- Google Analytics: For anonymous website analytics (not in the app).
🗄️ Data Retention
Email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. All in-app data (drive catalogs, previews, metadata) remains solely on your device and is never transmitted to us.
🛡️ Security
DriveVault is built with security in mind. The app runs in the macOS sandbox, performs read-only scanning of your drives, and stores all data locally. Because your data never leaves your device, it's protected by your Mac's own security.
⚖️ Your Rights
You may unsubscribe from emails at any time. You can also request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information we hold by contacting us at hello@drivevault.io.
👶 Children's Privacy
DriveVault is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
📝 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are effective upon posting to this page.
